Vision Candidates

As you know, Vintage is about “Connecting the Spiritually-disconnected to an Authentic Community of Faith in Christ.” We believe an important next step in fulfilling our mission is to hire another full-time “Pastor of Vision Implementation” to make this dream a reality.

In August we brought in 3 possible candidates to fill this role, and we have determined that none of these (albeit wonderful) folks is the person God is calling to Vintage at this time. We are completely confident that God has His best in store, and we are expectant with anticipation now that we have had the time we need to become crystal clear on the type of person we need to fulfill this important role.

From here, we are moving forward on what we are calling our “New Plan A.” We will be proactively seeking out suitable candidates while simultaneously receiving a second-round of resumes as well. While we are hopeful that someone might be hired sooner-rather-than-later, our stated goal remains unchanged. We are committed to seeking and following God, and are hopeful to have this position filled before the end of 2010.

Please continue to join us in praying for God’s direction during this important and exciting time.

Marty Longcor

The youngest of three boys, I grew up in a Christian home in north central Indiana (30 miles south east of Notre Dame…NO, I’m not an Irish fan). I was active in athletics growing up and my involvement in basketball continued into college. Following college I married Ruthann and began full-time ministry as a youth pastor. Over the years I have been involved in youth ministry, church planting, and other roles as a teaching pastor and lead pastor. Ruthann was born in India to career missionaries and has been an elementary school teacher, children’s ministry director, life planning consultant, and currently is a bookkeeper for a metal fabricating company. We have one daughter Natalie who will be a sophomore at Indiana Wesleyan University majoring in athletic training with the hope of becoming a physical therapist. I enjoy long distance running (it’s fun when I’m done), landscaping, travel, working on my MAC and hanging out with my family and friends. Currently I am finishing up my master’s degree and hope to in the future pursue my doctorate degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.

Chuck Holmes

Chuck Holmes has ministered to a diversity of people in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Growing up on Air Force Bases worldwide, he landed at Westminster Seminary for graduate studies completing a doctorate in the organization of young adults in the urban context.  During this time, he met Melanie, who showed up on his rowhouse doorstep looking for a neighborhood House Church bible study, a network ministry of the historic Tenth Church. They married and now have two extremely extraverted children who are quickly running headlong into the tween years.  Melanie, a Mississippi transplant and graduate of the School of the Architecture school at MSU, is engaged in the art culture and loves to be in a teaching environment that engages the gospel and a variety of fields.  The four of them love to be wherever the crowd is.

Chuck’s first pastorate was a church plant in blue collar New Jersey river town that met in a T.V. appliance store on Main Street called the River of Life.  It was composed of working families and a separate population of children who came all on their own each Sunday morning.

The next move was quite different serving a population of 250 people in a wealthy mega church of college aged and young professionals, as well as adults from 40 – 70 years of age.  In all groups, he fostered environments where members had opportunities to serve creatively in the Kingdom of God.  “The church should reflect the passions of the people in it. “  Chuck has also served as a director of a non-profit housing coalition in Chester, one of the poorest urban communities in the United States.

Chuck and Melanie have never been to Kansas, but recent conversations are reminding her of her roots.

Having moved to the KC area in 1997, Josh has been in ministry for 9 years, leaving a corporate engineering position to answer the call to full-time pastoral ministry. He has been married to Jen for 10 years, and has two amazing kiddos, Lucas (4), and Tessa, (2).
